Our story began over 85 years ago when Frank Dobson first started Dobsons in 1935, on the same Hertfordshire site that we remain on today. Then in the sixties and seventies we developed the business into shop fitting, fitting out many of the early local supermarkets and building societies. The eighties saw the beginning of the transformation of Dobsons into the domestic home company that we are today, with the appointment of grandson Tim Dobson and the following year saw the opening of our first showroom on our site, a window and door centre.
Helen is the Great-Granddaughter of Frank Dobson who founded the business in 1935, she joined in 2002 and has had a variety of roles in the business over the years including accounts, installations manager and kitchen designer but she is now back in her preferred role of marketing and finance. Away from the office Helen, married to Kevin, has two young children that keep her busy, plus her beloved cats and is a huge Take That fan!
Our clients love their house in Hertford Heath which they have lived in for 5 years. Unfortunately the kitchen did not live up to the rest of the property as a large pillar supporting the roof blocked the view to the rest of the garden and made the layout of the kitchen problematic. To enable the client to have the kitchen they wanted we first undertook the necessary structure work which allowed for a round steel column to replace the former much larger pillar, this column was then incorporated in the island.

Windows, External Doors, Kitchen Replacement and Shower replacement all work carried out at various periods during the past 25 years. We have recently had a new kitchen installed by Dobsons which included knocking a wall down to create a larger space. They managed the whole process through the design, planning, building works and regulations and the installation of the kitchen and we have been extremely impressed. The quality and professionalism of everyone involved in the project - the builders, kitchen fitter, electricians, plumber, floor layers etc was second to none, with the work delivered efficiently, cleanly and in a very friendly and pleasant manner. Highly recommended.

We are the proud owners of a stunning new Bathroom courtesy of the brilliant team at Dobsons. From initial design to final installation they provided a first class service every step of the way. The design was CGI rendered and was practically indistinguishable from the final result. The installation team were all friendly, professional, polite and worked to a very high standard.
We received fantastic customer service from the whole team, nothing was too much trouble. I can't recommend them highly enough and will definitely be using them for our next project.

We employed Dobsons to re-design and refit both our bathroom and shower room and the results are stunning. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. From the initial design stage and discussing everything with Andrew who had so many great ideas and solutions to optimise our spaces to the actual installation with Ross and Kevin co-ordinating, it went really smoothly. The Dobson fitters were professional, skilled craftsmen and always cleaned up after themselves and we now have two beautiful rooms which have been widely admired. Thank you!

We have used Dobsons for many years now. From windows to front doors and more recently, the building of a new Orangery and complete new kitchen fit. From planning to execution, Dobsons were professional, considerate and very clean and tidy. Always willing to change a detail if you had a change of heart. Would use them again rather than go elsewhere even if it means paying a bit more.

Dobsons not only fitted a fantastic new kitchen for us but also carried out quite extensive building work to transform our living space into the fabulous open plan kitchen/diner/entertaining space we have always dreamed of. I have looked into about 6-7 different companies to find the best one to use, to install bi fold doors and new windows at our new extension. Dobsons Windows & Doors, responded straight away, their waiting time was the shortest and the quality of their work was second to none.
